SPECIAL PHOTO EDITION

A Look Back at the 2013 National Senior Games Presented by Humana

There were many words used by our athletes to describe their visit to Cleveland: Surprised. Delighted.  Entertained. Befriended. Excited.  We could share a lot of words about the experience, but we would rather share a few of the images from the games to allow those who attended to reminisce…and to inspire those who did not to prepare to qualify for an equally unforgettable experience sure to be had when the 2015 National Senior Games presented by Humana are hosted in Bloomington – Minneapolis – St. Paul in 2015.

A special thanks to the talented photography students from Brooks Institute who once again captured the heart and soul of one of the greatest events in all of sport – The National Senior Games.

The City of Lights Monument is lit by John and Scott Means at the ceremonial beginning of the 2013 Senior Games in downtown Cleveland, Ohio on Friday, July 19, 2013. Their father, John Means Sr., was scheduled to carry the torch, but his sons lit the cauldren in his honor after his unfortunate death one week before the opening. Their father had participated in previous Senior Games earning medals as a track athlete. (©Will Clark/Brooks Institute2013)

Jackson, South Carolina returns the ball to his opponent Dan Villeneuve from Escanaba, Michigan in men’s 60-64 singles action on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Western Reserve Racquet & Fitness Club in Streetsboro, Ohio.  Col. Houston won the match by a score of 6-1 6-1 and advanced to the medal round, but his call to duty prevented him from staying an extra day to play for a bronze medal.
