Non-Ambulatory Sport Definition
Non-ambulatory means a person who is unable to walk and is therefore dependent on a wheelchair in daily life. NSGA's non-ambulatory sports are for those who are unable to walk without assistance or at all, and who will be competing in a wheelchair at the event.

Pickleball Final Schedule - Coming Spring 2025

Updated information on practice availability will be available in Spring 2025.

  1. Tournament format will be double elimination play with the first person/team to win 2 out of 3 games; each game is played to 11, win by 2.
  2.  The NSGA and LOC reserve the right to change the tournament format depending on entry numbers, space restrictions or other circumstances.
  3. Awards will be presented to 1st through 8th place for each event within each age division.

Qualifying Rules

  1. For 2025 Non-Ambulatory Pickleball will be classified as a “NON-AMBULATORY - OPEN” sport. Athletes do not need to qualify at a 2024 state qualifier.
  2. NSGA shall use the following skill levels within each age group at Nationals: (3.0 and under, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5/5.0)

Entry Regulations

  1. Anyone (non-ambulatory) can register for the event regardless if a state qualifier offers it or not.
  2. Athletes must supply current USAPA rating at the time of registering for the 2025 National Senior Games. If an athlete does not have a skill rating, they will need to refer to the document posted on NSGA.com under the Pickleball sports page in order to determine their skill rating.
  3. Competitors must provide their own paddles. Balls will be provided.

  1. Participant must be seated in their wheelchair for the entire duration of competition.
  2. The playing surface for Wheelchair play shall be 44 feet wide and 74 feet long.
  3. Players may allow the ball to bounce twice before returning the ball. The second bounce can be anywhere on the playing surface.
  4. Shirt color cannot be the same color as the game ball. (Optic yellow/green).

Iowa Events Center

The Iowa Events Center is the state’s premier convention center and arena, located at the intersection of Interstates 80 and 35 in downtown Des Moines and minutes from the Des Moines International Airport. The IEC will host Pickleball for the 2025 National Senior Games in two of its main exhibit halls. The competition space spans over 95,000 square feet of polished concrete flooring. The facility adds concessions, restrooms, countless common spaces and a large attached parking garage to its list of amenities.
