John White
In 1991, John White began his triathlon career, has completed 100+ triathlon events and continues to compete. He has also completed more than 200+ road races. In 2001, he completed his first WSO triathlon and has competed every year since. He has competed in multiple other WSO events, such as swimming, golf, cycling, track and field, 5K road race, shuffleboard, and horse shoes, earning 80+ medals. He was competed in seven (7) consecutive NSGA events; 2003/Virginia, 2005/Pittsburgh, 2007/Kentucky, 2009/California, 2011/Texas, 2013/Ohio and 2015/Minnesota, in the sports of triathlon & swimming.
He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. He worked for and retired from the Milwaukee Public School district after a 30+ year career as a teacher, counselor, coach, director of athletics and school administrator. He has served as President and Team Manager of two local triathlons teams in the Milwaukee Metro area. He also served as a long time professional Race Director for the Badgerland Striders, the local running club.
In 2009 he became the WSO Triathlon Event Coordinator.
In 2009 he accepted the nomination to serve on the WSO Board of Directors.
In 2012 he accepted the nomination and continues to serve as the President of the WSO Board of Directors.
In 2012 he accepted the nomination to serve as the Vice Chairman of the NSGA Great Lake Region.
In 2013, he was inducted into the Wisconsin Senior Olympic Hall of Fame.
In 2013, he was inducted into the USA Triathlon Century Club for competing in over 100 triathlons.
In 2014 he accepted the nomination and serves on the NSGA Board of Directors.
In 2016, he was inducted into the Milwaukee County Senior Citizen Hall of Fame, for his “exceptional contributions as a volunteer, in efforts to improve the lives of people regardless of race, creed or national origin on behalf of Wisconsin senior citizens”.
