How to Qualify for the National Senior Games

Start your journey to better health, lasting connection and proving you’re never too old to chase new goals — at the National Senior Games.

Step 1: Confirm Your Eligibility

An athlete must be at least 50 years of age by December 31, 2026, to be eligible for the 2027 National Senior Games presented by Humana.

Step 2: Check the Rules for Your Sport

To compete in most sports, an athlete must qualify at a State Senior Games in the year before the National Senior Games. For the 2027 National Senior Games presented by Humana, athletes must qualify in 2026. Some sports are Open Sports, meaning they have no qualification step.

Step 3: Locate a Qualifying Senior Games

Find contact information and dates for Qualifying State Senior Games competitions here.

Tip: If there isn’t an opportunity that works for you in your state, look at others in your region! Many allow out-of-state participants.

Step 4: Wait for Your Qualification Notice

Results from Qualifying State Senior Games will be submitted to the National Senior Games Association office. After results are verified, athletes will receive a qualification/registration notice from the NSGA.
