Katie Potter
Elected to the Board in November 2020, Katie Potter shares NSGA’s vision of helping older adults achieve their physical potential, regardless of age, ability or athletic history. As a lifelong athlete, she values the life lessons she learned on the field and feels that individuals of every age deserve the same opportunity.
Katie has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Five Star Senior Living, based in Newton, Massachusetts, since 2019 and previously served as its Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Before joining Five Star in 2012, she practiced law in Boston at Sullivan & Worcester LLP and Burns & Levinson LLP, where she focused on corporate law issues, including securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and other transactional matters.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland at College Park, Katie went on to receive a Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law and a Master of Laws in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University Law School.
In July 2020, Katie was inducted into the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Hall of Honor, recognizing executive-level women who have made significant contributions to the senior living profession. And in December 2020, she was recognized as a top Influencer in Senior Housing Real Estate by the GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum.
Under Katie’s leadership, Five Star has continued to focus on delivering an exceptional resident experience across over 260 senior living communities. Additionally, the company has evolved its rehabilitation and wellness services offering, Ageility, into a fitness and lifestyle brand for older adults that is grounded in clinical excellence.
Katie sees nothing but opportunity for NSGA as it evolves state-level engagement and national recognition. She looks forward to supporting its ongoing growth and evolution.
