Josie Russell
Sports have always been a big part of Josie’s life. She grew up with two older brothers and played sports constantly – developing her competitive personality along the way!
Josie began playing volleyball at 16 and instantly fell in love with the sport. Since first stepping on the court, she has been fully immersed in playing and coaching, and now works for USA Volleyball.
Josie played collegiate volleyball at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, where she earned a degree in sport psychology. She later completed a master’s degree in sport administration at Arkansas State University.
Josie’s coaching career began at 17, and she progressed to becoming a head coach and Director of Volleyball Operations at Team Colorado Volleyball. She loves helping players grow as athletes and people – seeing them build confidence, leadership and a love for the sport.
In 2022, Josie joined USA Volleyball’s Indoor Events Department, where she travels across the country to run tournaments. This includes the Adult Open National Championships, which welcomes athletes from ages 18-80.
Josie is excited to work with the National Senior Games to continue growing and spotlighting volleyball within this community of lifelong athletes.
