Two special events, the Flame Arrival Ceremony and Mile for the Ages (1-Mile Road Race) will take place on the grounds of the Iowa State Capitol. With the view of downtown Des Moines to the west, and the Capitol building with its iconic gold-plated domes to the east, there is no shortage of beautiful sights. The Capitol building is located in the East Village and is surrounded by some of Des Moines’ best restaurants and bars.
