Howard Slater

Howard Slater is a Financial Advisor at SEIA and a Partner in the firm’s practice of Mannen, Munday, Slater and Bar-Shain. Howard focuses on financial planning for executives from Fortune 500 companies, closely held businesses and government agency employees. Prior to joining SEIA, Howard co-founded and co-led Cedar Brook Group and had served as Director of Operations and Regional Director of Financial planning for Cleveland Financial Group, as well as lead instructor for the firm’s training and development program.
Howard received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration degree from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management. He earned a Master of Science in Financial Services degree sponsored by The American College and has served as a (FINRA) panel arbitrator. Howard has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) designation, a Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) certification and the Behavioral Financial Advisor (BFA) designation.
Howard’s co-authored book, “Plan of Action-Strategies to Help You Build and Preserve Wealth,” is a popular “how to” primer for financial advisors as well as business owners and other executives. Howard has authored or co-authored several other papers. He has served on Lincoln Financial Advisor’s National Planning Committee and Securities America’s National Advisory Council. He also has spoken at several national financial planning conferences and wealth management forums.
Prior to his financial services career Howard worked at the NASA Glenn Research Center (formerly Lewis Research Center) for 11 years working on a variety of Mission Imaging program, quality management initiatives and inner agency efforts.
An ardent volunteer, he has served within a variety of nonprofit organization boards and committees, taught financial literacy courses for youth and serves as lead security coordinator for a nonprofit religious community. He currently serves on the Ohio Senior Olympics board and as a member of the NSGA Development and Endowment Ad-Hoc committee. Howard is a pickleball enthusiast as well as a certified coach through Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) and also enjoys time at the range, reading, and, most importantly, spending time with his daughters and many grandchildren.
