De Shann Schinkel

De Shann B. Schinkel serves as Executive Director of the Wyoming Senior Olympics and West Region Representative for the National Senior Games Association, bringing decades of leadership experience in nonprofit administration, sports governance, workforce development and community engagement. A dynamic and visionary leader, she is dedicated to expanding opportunities for healthy, active living while strengthening partnerships and athletic participation throughout the western United States.
With a professional background spanning federal, state, municipal, nonprofit and private sectors, De Shann has successfully led large-scale operations, managed complex programs and secured critical funding through federal, state, foundation and nonprofit grant development. Her expertise includes strategic leadership, organizational development, financial oversight, sponsorship development and stakeholder collaboration.
Prior to her leadership with Wyoming Senior Olympics, De Shann served in several impactful public service roles, including U.S. Census Field Manager for Wyoming and Texas, Renewable Energy Realty Specialist with the Bureau of Land Management and Recreation Director for the City of Rawlins, where she helped advance major community recreation initiatives.
A lifelong athlete and wellness advocate, De Shann has dedicated more than 25 years to coaching and mentoring student-athletes in Wyoming. She actively competes in endurance and team sports including swimming, triathlon, cycling, distance running, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, golf and table tennis. Her passion for sport and community continues to inspire athletes of all ages to lead active, engaged lives.
De Shann is also a retired member of the United States Air Force and Wyoming Air National Guard, where she developed the disciplined, mission-focused leadership style that defines her professional career today. She studied Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting and Human Personnel Management through the Community College of the Air Force and Park University.
As NSGA West Region Representative, De Shann works collaboratively with coordinators, organizations, athletes and stakeholders across Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming to promote innovation, inclusivity and sustainable growth within the Senior Games movement.
