Chris Shirring
Christopher Shirring discovered the positive impact of the senior games while coordinating table tennis for the Mid-Carolina Regional Games in North Carolina. After moving back to Ohio in 2009, Chris worked to re-ignite the Central Ohio Regional Games and now hosts the Ohio Senior Olympic State Games. He also serves on the Ohio Senior Olympics Board of Trustees as the secretary.
In 2007, after venturing away from nature education, Chris began working in older adult recreation and is now currently the Older Adult Services Manager for the City of Westerville Parks and Recreation Department. He oversees a 9,000 square foot senior center with nearly 2,600 members and coordinates the city’s older adult recreation programs and services.
He received his Masters of Science in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management from Clemson University in 2015. He is an active member the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association and competes regularly in the Professional Disc Golf Association. Chris lives in Westerville with his wife, Elisabeth, and their two children, Olivia and Benjamin.
