Celebration of Athletes: State Pride and Pageantry With the Pirates
The 2023 Celebration of Athletes at PNC Park last night was a memorable and fun experience for the large gathering of athletes who have come to compete in the 2023 National Senior Games presented by Humana. It was also a powerful display of healthy, active aging for everyone in attendance when more than 3,000 athletes marched in the Parade of States, which covered the entirety of the baseball field in advance of the game between the home team Pirates and the San Francisco Giants. There were more than 5,000 participants in The Games who stayed to enjoy the game.
Athletes were treated to a free ticket to the game and witnessed NSGA CEO Sue Hlavacek and Humana CEO Bruce Broussard tossing the First Pitch, and the 7th inning passing of the torch from Pittsburgh to the city of Des Moines, host of the 2025 National Senior Games. NSGA thanks SportsPITTSBURGH and the Pittsburgh Pirates for their hospitality!

Thank You: UPMC Heart of Well-Being Program
On Saturday, experts from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Heart and Vascular Institute experts set up in The Village at the David Lawrence Convention Center to help our athletes learn their personal health numbers. These data points are key to understanding and monitoring your overall health.
We are grateful to UPMC for the significant support they have provided to the 2023 National Senior Games presented by Humana.
