A native of Dallas, Texas after completing a BS in Recreation Administration from Southwest Texas State University DeWayne began a 33 year career with the Department of Veterans Affairs in June of 1980. Career started at the VA Medical Center in Dallas, TX and included stints at the Big Spring, TX VAMC, Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center/ VA North Texas Health Care System in Bonham, TX, Washington, DC VA Medical Center and VA Headquarters in Washington, DC. DeWayne retired in January 2013 as Director of the National Veterans Golden Age Games the largest adaptive sports program for veterans in the world. DeWayne currently resides in Maryland but moving to North Carolina in 2016 with wife Cindy upon her retirement.
