Carmela Martinez earned her Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education, Health and Recreation. She is currently employed with the NM Aging & Long-Term Services Department as a Program Manager and has worked 23 years in State Government. She is responsible for the management and oversight of the Area Agencies on Aging, Senior Corps Volunteer Programs, NM Senior Olympics, and Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.

She has an athletic background in playing, coaching, and officiating/umpiring in softball, volleyball, and basketball. She has competed in local and state senior games in co-ed bowling, women’s basketball and softball, table tennis, and 8 ball pool. She has attended the National Senior Games in Pittsburg, Kentucky, Palo Alto, and Houston, Cleveland, and Minneaplis/St. Paul/Bloomington.
